Our services

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a holistic treatment which focuses on the treatment of soft tissue injuries, aching muscles and postural imbalances using a variety of techniques. Remedial massage can be helpful in treating specific areas of muscle tension caused by stress or injury and has both short and long-term effects on the body. Remedial massage can also be used for relaxation and general well-being.

The massage therapist endeavours to identify the original biomechanical dysfunction, treating the cause of the disorder as well as relieving the symptoms. Remedial massage therapy supports and speeds up the body's own repair mechanisms.

Ante-natal (Pregnancy) Massage

For pregnant clients, massage takes place on a massage table with the client lying on their side, or using a belly pillow, an exquisitely comfortable cushion with a hollow for the belly and the breasts. While allowing the masseur to perform a full massage on the back, the position also gives the client a chance to lie comfortably on their front, sometimes up until full-term. Ante natal massage improves the blood and lymphatic circulations, assists in maintaining a proper posture and balances the body and mind. Regular ante-natal massage relaxes the muscles, bones, nerves and mind.

Key Benefits

Key benefits of remedial massage include the stimulation to the blood supply allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed; the calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility. An improvement to the health of the cells, the reparation of tissues, and the easing of stiffness and tension can also be experienced through therapeutic relaxation.

Muscular and skeletal dysfunctions often addressed with remedial massage include muscle tightness and pain, arthritis, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, whiplash, neck and back pain, scoliosis, headaches and sports injuries.

Our mission

Remedial massage should be about fixing problems.

Touch of Healing is dedicated to finding out what's causing your problems and finding a way to make you feel better, in the short term and in the longer term.

How it works

When you come for treatment, we will have a conversation about what's going on with you, and try to find out why, then put in place a plan to help your body to improve.

At your first visit, we will go through a brief history of your work, exercise, and medical history, endeavouring to find a treatment plan for your sore body.

Once we know what's likely to be causing your pain, it's important to consider what type and frequency of treatment is likely to help you to heal.
Touch of Healing doesn't try to fit you into a one-size-fits-all treatment plan: everyone is different in terms of what's wrong with them,  so we develop a plan according to how you respond to treatment instead.

From many years of experience, it's well known the most important thing people want from a massage is great hands-on therapy, and to walk out feeling a lot better than you walked in. That's the focus of every treatment at Touch of Healing.

What sets us apart

Rather than providing a stock standard massage to everyone who walks in, Touch of Healing is dedicated to finding the best solution for your individual problem. Sharing rooms with Cairns' premier physiotherapy clinic has blessed Andy with an extraordinarily wide range of treatment options to apply to help you feel better.
